"K&F Concept" Vs. "Altura Photo" ND Filters (part 2 of 2)

K&F Concept Vs. Altura Photo ND Filters

In this simple first review on Hansen Camera we review: Image Quality, Ghosting, and Practicality.
The following tests were done with an Olympus OM-D E-M5 using a 45mm f/1.8 lens using manual focus on a tripod.  Both filters were purchased through amazon.com

Summary:                Scores                                   Cons
K&F Concept                       4/10                                      Poor image quality and purple tint
Altura Photo                        8/10                                      Lack of range

Because of the amount of upload space needed, the review will be separated into two parts:

Part 1: Image Quality
Part 2: Ghosting and Overview

None of the photos were edited in any way

Overview:

The K&F Concept ...................................................................... 4/10 overall
This filter uses two polarized filters that twist in order to block more light.

Cons
  • From part 1 of the review its clear that the K&F Concept has poor image quality and a very purple tint on the high end.
  • The K&F Concept filter is two pieces of glass, this means it has the potential to trap water and dirt in a place that is unable to be cleaned.

Pros
  • The K&F Concept filter is very easy to use and versatile with a range from "ND2 - ND400."

The K&F Concept is a filter perfect for a photographer who wants practicality and is okay losing image quality.

K&F Concept is $17.99 from amazon:

The Altura Photo ....................................................................... 8/10 overall
A kit that comes with three filters (ND2, ND4, ND8) and a much smaller range than the K&F Concept.

Cons
  • Even the darkest ND filter in the kit (ND8) is not dark enough for sunlight - if your trying to get exposures as long as a second for silky water.

Pros
  • The Altura photo ND2 filter is noticeably sharper than the K&F concept on ND2

The Altura Photo filter is perfect for a photographer or videographer who prefers image quality and affordability

The Altura Photo kit is $10.99 from amazon:
